Of Bluff And Bluster?

Hasn't that film been running for almost five years now? Actors have changed along the way but much of the cast remains intact since 2006. Hmm. And what have we got to show for it?

We have a government advancing its political agenda (such as it regrettably is) one torturous molehill at a time. We have an official opposition seemingly on the cusp of moving in for the kill. We have a second opposition party so tied up in knots on the issue of the long-gun registry that it's not even funny. And then there's the Bloc -- the big winners of Canadian federalism. The only guys in Ottawa who have more job security than the Bishop of Rome...

You've just got to hand it to Canadians. When it comes time to seriously muck it up, we're in a class by ourselves. Stagnation central.

Seriously, makes yours truly want to head for the closest ATV and race off for parts unknown.

But then one thinks of the miners and what they have to endure in Chile. Millions are praying for their safe rescue. Ditto.

I suppose our fate as well rests solely on waiting it out. Late September will soon be upon us. May it finally bring deliverance: in one form or another.

  1. The world is paying attention to what matters most. Voters are not tuned into the antics of those in the cheap seats and their cheerleaders.

We have both talked about tea leaves.

I have talked about organization, twenty million for a national campaign, leadership on issues, trust.

The first false start was the budget, than May 2009, than Fall 2009 in Sudbury.

We have watched Ignatieff make six tours, in the last session he had the worst voting record of all MPs.

In 2010 they have whipped 30 MP's to effectively keep the confidence of the Conservative agenda.

The opposition since 2006 been willing participants in propping up this government through two mandates.

I must admit I have too much fun highlighting the games in the cheap seats.

"Nothing ... will ever be attempted, if all possible objections must be first overcome."

  2. CanadianSense,

I must say you really take the cake! You guys came up with the cheap seats' how to fuck parliamentary committees manual and then you have the nerve to call us cheap???

In any event, I would substitute the following for your last paragraph:

    "Nothing ventured. Nothing gained."

See you on the campaign trail! Yahoo! Yipee!

  3. I have not made any donations or have a membership card in any political party.

I did make my predictions in December 2009. I don't see a federal campaign this Fall. We have municipal elections this Fall.

    Maybe in the Spring 2011?

FYI: The seats became cheap after the non-stop whining, games and whipping to miss votes by 30 MPs.

  4. CanadianSense,

Then the suspense can hardly be killing you. I suppose I will have to endure that on my own. The fortunes of life...

  5. I suspect we will have four by elections with the Conservatives winning another two more seats, possibly a third. Liberals will be shut out again.

In the spring of 2011 is go time now.

I had hoped and orginally predicted a summer fall election in 2010 but the opposition parties have failed to fix their organization to risk the wrath of voters and the loss of more donors after the next loss.

  6. CanadianSense,

I don't like opposition delay in defeating this government. That's certainly NOT NEWS to you!

The void cycle works against the opposition, and more particularly, we Liberals -- it strengthens the hand of this government, IMHO...
