I had no idea that Infrastructure funding was the political equivalent of fuzzy Math. Programs are underway at a staggering rate -- 12% have shovels in the ground. What this government needs to remember is that an impressive approval rate (far faster than any previous government) requires a necessary secondary component: it's called follow through...
The Conservative project flow lives up to its name on the ground -- it sure is Conservative, with plenty of something being shoveled but it ain't dirt!
Yes, the steel is being ordered but tell that to the people in Burlington, Markham or any other community.
And oh by the way, try not to keep your candidates too well briefed. That has proven to be hazardous to the Harper government's health.

Candidate Landon vs Ex-Minister Cauchon nomination battle?
ReplyDeleteTaking bets which one cause more damage? Which story is alive today, next week and which one was diffused at Tim Hortons by the PM?
"He is not a member of caucus and privy to those discussions/negotiations."-End
Is the Cauchon train wreck over? Is Dion now targetted? Who is next? How is this being played out in Quebec?
In less than 48 hours how many National Papers, television stations are carrying the intercine at Liberal HQ?

Take a quick peek at the polls and leadership scores. I don't understand the wisdom of attacking spending on parks, water treatment plants in riding across the country. If a CPC riding is it favouritism, if NDP, Lib riding they are attacked for buying votes. I don't understand the logic in attacking the infrastructure monies that show cooperation of (Federal,Provincial Muncipal)to link it with Adscam. Take a look at my post.
This is another example of a tactical mistake. The advisors don't understand bad optics. I think if you found the money going toward a fountain or the PM making a personal call to the BDC for a loan for a friend, than BAM!
The problem is the same as before. They keep trying to create or manufacture a crisis over issues that are not resonating with the regular voter. The Polls are reflecting "STFU", crying wolf levels across Canada.
In November 2008 they demanded Billions spent, stalled and delayed the projects in 2009. Now they are screaming wolf every week.
They have not kept their powder dry. The have failed to present any alternative. I don't understand the logic in fighting against the sentiment of voters who want no election and see the stimulus delivered before they pass their judgement.
The timing and desire by the Liberal Party is NOT in sync with the electorate. Find real problems, have an alternative, present it with support from the NDP and Bloc and force the CPC to vote it down and seek an election.
I have posted a few entries on my blog the last few days and things WRONG with the Liberal strategy. You are free to rebuke the wisdom.
